AZBIGMEDIA: Dr. Buffy Lloyd-Krejci, Board Certified in Infection Control and owner of IPCWell, a company founded to combat infectious diseases, has been recognized as one of the most notable women in STEM taking significant steps to combat the novel coronavirus.
Lloyd-Krejci joins eight other women who were selected by the award-winning, nonprofit media organization, The Story Exchange, as key scientists and founders making a difference on the front lines of the pandemic. Dedicated to telling the personal and professional stories of women entrepreneurs, the organization highlights women around the world who are contributing to their communities and collectively making an impact on the global economy.
“I am honored to have been selected as part of this group of notable women making a change in the field of STEM, especially during this time when the global pandemic has changed everyone’s lives in one way or another,” said Lloyd-Krejci. “With nearly 1.5 million cases in the United States alone, we need to be more focused than ever on researching solutions to halt the virus.”
Lloyd-Krejci is focused on making positive change. With a long-term passion for mitigating infectious diseases through a data-driven approach, Lloyd-Krejci has more than 20 years of expertise in successfully developing and implementing healthcare and public health programs.
Over the past few months, Lloyd-Krejci has been doing her part in reducing the rate of infections in nursing home care facilities by conducting “deep dive assessments,” that ensure evidence-based practices are implemented, including:
• Hand hygiene
• Transmission-based precautions
• Environmental services
Her work and dedication are amounting to more than media recognition. Lloyd-Krejci was tapped by Doctors Without Borders to help throughout the month of June in hard hit Detroit, Michigan supporting nursing homes mitigate COVID-19. She will serve as IPC Manager for the organization.
